Veering off in a completely different direction from many previous posts-- this music really IS as old as it looks- recorded from 1918 through the 1920s... crackly old Hawaiian music as preserved from 78 records.
Make yourself a fruity beverage and kick back...

Excellent release from the now-defunct Autoplate label, which was the quieter, more mellow side of Thinner. This one is short, and it's easy to play over and over... highly recommended!

The shimmering world of Ian D Hawgood

"Fire rushes across the mountain. Its beautiful, and its all around me now. But the fire will die at night and I will realise that I am alone, remembering the way things used to be. This night has come too soon."

Ian D Hawgood 03/11/07 00:45

4 tracks of enormous beauty are presented by Ian D Hawgood on "The Fire Will Die At Night". With great soundscapes and multiple layers of different soundsources, this EP catches you and leaves you with a soft shiver over your back. Ian creates a warm and gentle ambience with soft glitches, some percussions, beats and wide spaces. All woven together very, very subtley.

Enjoy this great piece of music on the border between ambient and electronica.

I avoided this artist's work for a while- only because he is so wildly popular, and the people who reviewed it were just gushing tooooooo much, which was puzzling to me-- but slowly, his sound started to sink into my psyche-- which may be the only way it works-- S L O W L Y --- like the music itself...

Piles and piles of processed guitars with other instruments and sounds...

Give it a listen-- even if it doesn't work for you first time around, it will no doubt leave a subtle impression and will leave you wondering what a second listen may be like- and then a third--

Here it is, the new generation of Ambient http://www.archive.org/details/rb016

MORE dark ambient sound manipulation

In all its droning, static-drenched, doom, and glory-----    http://www.archive.org/details/ca284_ip

It reminds me of DEAD VOICES ON AIR, just without the spooky vocal bits (the dead voices), but the ambience and mood is similiar. Nice electronic winter sounds...

Starting the year off with some lovely Dark Ambient Drone music

It sounds like it looks... slow and dark, with distant echoes of sounds and layers of unsettled thoughts... epic and cavernous, mystical, frightening, deep-- play it late at night while gazing out the window at a silent street.

It is the sound of ghosts passing by you in a unlit hallway....

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!
